CryptoAngels: Phanuel
The fourth in a series of posts about the Archangels of the CryptoAngels project and their inspirations.
Owned by NorCal_Guy, Phanuel guards the upper reaches of Heaven against incursions from the Void that surrounds the Multiverse. Phanuel is the youngest Archangel. His manner is gentle and good-natured, and he takes innocent joy in flying through the clear air. A seemingly contradictory figure, Phanuel’s constellation symbol is the dove – suggestive of peace – yet he carries a not-very-peaceful looking revolver! But the gun is purely for the defence of Heaven and rarely has to be fired, though Phanuel does have a good aim.
The upper atmosphere of Heaven is the most spiritual region of the Multiverse. Even the doves that inhabit it are composed of spirit, rather than matter. It is here that the purest essence of creation resides. Little is known about the Void. Its existence suggests an existential duality of Being/Non-Being, beyond even Light/Dark. But it’s not a threat – not for those who avoid it, anyway.
Phanuel’s altitude gives us the opportunity to witness the Multiverse in the round – Heaven in the centre connected to the many alternate Worlds by cosmic streams of the Eridanus river – like an intricate mechanical model of Creation.
