The Titanium Angel: Soaring from Canvas to Screen and Onto the World Stage

The Titanium Angel, the cinematic centrepiece of Trevor Jones’s critically acclaimed Engine series, has now been officially selected by four international film festivals, with more to come. Screenings are confirmed at the New York Short Animation Festival, Palm Springs Animation Festival, Chichester International Film Festival, and Caorle Independent Film Festival in Italy. This ambitious short film is gaining widespread recognition for its powerful visual language and mythic storytelling.

Adapted from the monumental triptych at the heart of The Engine, The Titanium Angel represents the final, redemptive vessel in the saga’s richly imagined steampunk world. A blend of Renaissance-inspired form and futuristic symbolism, the work draws from Michelangelo’s Last Judgment, reimagining its message through themes of industry, decay, salvation, and flight. The angel is not a destroyer but a carrier of light, guiding the chosen toward a new order born from chaos.
The animated short was masterfully brought to life by Apollo Entertainment, whose creative vision and technical brilliance helped transform this epic painting into a vivid moving experience. Their work translated the depth and complexity of the original piece into a dynamic and emotionally charged film that honours its source while expanding the story’s reach and impact.

The Titanium Angel is more than an adaptation. It is a standalone work of art that bridges traditional painting, animation, and allegorical narrative. Its festival success marks a significant moment not only for the Engine series but also for the broader intersection of fine art and independent animation.
A heartfelt thank you to the team at Apollo Entertainment and to the festival curators and audiences who continue to champion this film. With momentum building and its message resonating across borders and genres, the journey of The Titanium Angel is just beginning to unfold.
