Chrysalis, mixed media on canvas, 105 x 80 cm
I was really pleased to hear that Artmag wanted to work with me to produce an augmented reality (AR) cover for their March/April issue especially considering I've already been fortunate enough to have had my work on a previous cover a few years back. So for this issue I created a painting called Chrysalis and with the magic of AR I embedded a short stop motion video showing how I made the work from blank canvas to complete. If you look close you can see torn pieces of past artmag pages in the painting. The magazine cover and the painting can be scanned with the free app Junaio to access the AR features -- or click on the video link below to watch it in action. View Chrysalis here.
There is also a two page article that goes into a lot more depth about my technology influenced artwork and my "hijacking" of the RSA Open exhibition, so do go pick up a copy at your local gallery and see what all the fuss is about. :)
