The ramblings of a Canadian artist in Scotland. Stories about paint, life, love, kilts and a little bit of South Park.
I dropped off a couple of my new paintings at Frameworks the other day to be framed up and ready for when Alison Auldjo, the owner of UNIONgallery stops by my studio next Sunday to view my progress. Of course this is a wee bit stressful for me as the UNIONgallery has offered me my first solo exhibition opening Thursday 4 November and the pressure is on. It will obviously also be a wee bit stressful for Alison as she's taking a chance on yours truly.
I've never had a gallery owner come to my studio before, which is a little intimidating. What if she hates my work? What if she doesn't 'get it'?
What if she slips, falls, gets paint all over her new jacket and decides to cancel the show? That reminds me, the studio is in desparate need of a tidy!
So I'm trying to figure out how to post photos onto this damn blog. Damn you BLOG - tell me how you do it! Stop toying with me!
OK! I figured it out - below is an image of one of my new paintings photoshopped into a 'virtual room'. I haven't titled it yet but, like all the paintings I'm working on for this show, it was inspired by a song by a Scottish musician or band. This painting above is my visual representation of the song Who's Got A Match by Scotland's heaviest rockers Biffy Clyro. Brilliant band! ...You can take the boy outta (80's) Canada but...
