Keep up to date and entertained – a blog about my recent activities, events, thoughts, inspirations, ideas…
I'd read in the Evening News a couple days ago that Rod Jones, the guitarist from the Scottish band Idlewild would be at Tynecastle High School where he's kicking off a mentoring programme for young Scottish music students. Click here to read more...
Can you believe I'm actually quite clean and tidy? I really am. My flat's always in decent nick yet for some reason when I paint I become so obsessed with what I’m doing that everything else fades into the background. Click here to read more...
I've been online checking out some of the various events and exhibitions coming to Edinburgh and I stumbled upon a painter I hadn't heard of. Joan Mitchell was a contemporary of Lee Krasner and Helen Frankenthaler. Click for full blog...
A lot of time and effort by the tireless Will from Almond Design has produced a beautiful, new website! Loads of great features have been added along with an exciting, new Store option.
Check it out, surf around in it, and, if you have any suggestions, click onto the new Contact page and write me a note. I look forward to hearing from you.

Finally! The guitar is complete as is my life now. A photo of it has been emailed to the Hard Rock Café, who has sent it on to be developed into a limited edition pin. I'm also hoping to produce a catalogue for the November UNIONgallery exhibition with sales of it going to Art in Healthcare too. Click for full blog...
Ok, here are a couple photos of me in my exceptionally messy studio sanding away on that damn guitar still! My initial bright idea to just strip the top of the guitar and leave all the nice, shiny, varnished, deep cherry red on the back, sides and neck didn’t work.
There's a long history of artists seriously injuring themselves and even accidentally causing their own deaths. Francesco Goya died of lead poisoning for example and Eva Hess unwittingly poisoned herself as the noxious fumes from the materials she was working with rose up through her studio ceiling and into her bedroom directly above.

So Gibson has provided me with a guitar to paint, which will hang in the Hard Rock Café in Edinburgh. It will be raffled with all proceeds going to the charity Art in Healthcare.
Here is a rare view of my studio space. I tend to be the kind of artist who doesn't like anyone coming into my work area. Not because I'm territorial but because I'm not too keen on anyone seeing my unfinished paintings!
I dropped off a couple of my new paintings at Frameworks the other day to be framed up and ready for when Alison Auldjo, the owner of UNIONgallery stops by my studio next Sunday to view my progress. Of course this is a wee bit stressful for me as the UNIONgallery has offered me my first solo exhibition opening Thursday 4 November and the pressure is on. It will obviously also be a wee bit stressful for Alison as she's taking a chance on yours truly.
