I’ve been buying art materials online from GreatArt for over eight years now because of the very competitive prices and the convenience of having my orders delivered straight to my studio but also for the excellent customer service. If I ever had any questions or issues, a simple phone call or email was all that was necessary to sort things out quickly.
In 2013 I contacted GreatArt to ask if they would be interested in supplying our charity with art materials for the Edinburgh Art Fair in which we were offering “taster sessions” to help promote the work of our organisation. GreatArt were very generous with their help and even after I stepped down from the charity last year to focus on my art career I was really pleased to hear that AiH continues this relationship. I wasn’t surprised when I recently discovered that GreatArt started out over 50 years ago by the Gerstaecker family in a small town in Germany as an art supply company for therapy centres.
I’d never seen so much paint and pigment, brushes, paper and canvas, frames, and printing materials, etc in my life! The range is vast whether you’re in need of more economical supplies such as their I Love Art series, which is still excellent quality (only £4.50 for a 200ml tube of oil paint - I’ve been using it with my latest series of politician paintings), to the artist quality brand names like Sennelier, Windsor & Newton, and Royal Talens.
There is a fantastic framing area downstairs absolutely packed full of an extensive range of stretched canvas and display products for exhibition. It also provides all the materials required to create your own bespoke canvases, and custom framing and mounting services. And upstairs, if you find yourself in need of a wee break after all your shopping, there is even a small visitor area with complimentary coffee and tea.
